Team News
The meet this weekend at East Longmeadow High School will start at 9:30 am.
Check-in time will be at 8:45 am.

Once again, the Falcon Swim Club will be collecting non-perishable food items for the Rock 102
Mayflower Marathon.  This is a great way to show community support and provide for those in need.
Last year we were able to collect $750 in donations.  Let's try to beat that this year.  Help us reach our
goal of $1000.

When: Monday November 24, 2014 4:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Where: High School parking lot - outside the pool entrance.

All donations collected on Monday will be delivered Tuesday morning to the Rock 102 Mayflower
Marathon Open Pantry collection in the Basketball Hall of Fame.

Just a reminder... there will be no practice on Wed 11/26 - Friday 11/28.
Happy Thanksgiving!

2014 / 2015 MEET SCHEDULE
The meet schedule has been posted.

Great ways to prepare for the upcoming winter swim season!!

FSC will once again be offering training opportunities for pre-season this fall!  Strength & Conditioning
will begin on September 29th and be held on Mondays and Thursdays.  Coach Tim's pool training will
begin on October 6th and be held Monday through Friday.  Both programs will continue until the
Thanksgiving break.  Three registration forms for these two programs and the regular Falcon Swim
Club competition season are attached.

Strength & Conditioning:  This program is open to all high school and jr. high athletes who want to
add the strength exercise piece to their training schedule.  It is held in the pool area and consists of
age appropriate land exercises.  We encourage jr. high athletes to participate!  This program begins
on September 29th and will be held Mondays & Thursdays from 3:45 - 4:45 p.m.

The cost of the program is $75.

Coach Tim's Swim Program:  This program is open to all high school swimmers and swimmers who
have previously participated.  If you are a jr. high swimmer and would like to try the program, please
contact Coach Tim for approval.  He will be at the pool starting September 29th from 6:00 - 8:00.  This
is an effective program designed to get a head start on the training for the winter high school swim
season which begins after the Thanksgiving recess.

Swim Times will be (starting on October 6th):

Mondays 4:45 - 5:45 (after strength & conditioning)
Tuesdays 3:45 - 5:45
Wednesdays 3:45 - 5:45
Thursdays 4:45 - 5:45 (after strength & conditioning)
Fridays 3:45 - 5:45

The cost of this program is $240.

Both programs are an excellent way to prepare for our winter swim season!

Falcon Swim Club:

In addition to participating in these pre-season programs, many of the high school swimmers
enjoy/continue to be involved with the Falcon Swim Club.  There is a requirement to swim in 4 dual
meets which happen on Saturdays (in order to participate in the championship meet which is an
important piece of the swimming involvement in Hampden/Wilbraham).

The cost of this program is $40 for high school swimmers and $75 for jr. high swimmers (they continue
to practice with FSC after Thanksgiving).

All payments should be made to Falcon Swim Club.  Forms and payments will be collected during the
weeks of September 29th and October 6th.

Please email Carolyn Webber at for questions and interest!

You will find the forms to participate in all 3 programs on the FSC website.

Parent sign-up sheets are located in the meet book, right in front of the swimmer sign-up book.  We
expect every family to have a representative work part of each meet. We cannot run a successful
meet without your help.  Please see any board member, and they can answer questions you may
have about the volunteer jobs. Most jobs require no training, and working helps pass the time. You
should not miss any races your swimmers are in, even when you are volunteering.  We would love to
train some new stroke and turn judges, please let us know if you are interested. Thank you in
advance for your help.

file, or they will participate UNOFFICIALLY in meets.
Check in - When your swimmer arrives at a meet please check in with the coaches or assistant
coaches for attendance and swim lane warm-up assignments. Be on time for your warm-up.
Bullpen - Parents please be aware that the swimmers need to come to the meet bullpen around 10
events prior to their event.  It is your responsibility to make sure this happens and not the volunteers.
Watch the event number sign carefully because we may combine events.
Event Etiquette Reminder - New swimmers need to be reminded that in individual events and for the
last leg of a team relay the swimmer must remain in the pool until everyone has completed that event
heat. The announcer will tell the swimmers to clear the pool at completion.
Goggles - Make sure you bring a spare set of goggles to the swim meets in case they break.

For your child's safety... Please pick up your child on time and have them wait in the pool area or
hallway until you arrive. Children should not wait by themselves outside.

There will be no swim practice during thunder/lightning storms or if Wilbraham schools are closed due
to a snowstorm. Once we close, it will be for both swim hours.  We will do our best to notify you by
email & website if a storm approaches late in the day.  Please use your best judgment if you haven't

The security personnel for Minnechaug has notified us that we can not prop the pool entrance door
open for security reasons.  We can temporarily open the door when we know they belong to our swim
club but we can not leave the door ajar.  If the door is closed and you need to get in please go to the
outside entrance closest to the pool and enter through those doors.  Females only can go into the
girls locker rooms and then cut to the pool area.  Boys or mixed groups should pass the gym and then
take a left down the long hallway which will lead you to an entrance that will bring you to the shallow
end of the pool.

Parents: We encourage you to go over the lap swimming rules of etiquette with your children,
especially the new swimmers.   Thank you.
