There will be a short practice on Friday night before Championships. This practice is for the swimmers
to talk with the coaches, swim a bit…..and get together as a team. Parents should plan to stay. All age
groups should come to the pool for 6pm.

Good luck at the Champs!

Preliminary Championship information has been added to the site (link located to the right). Please
understand that this is just a guideline. After all swimmers have registered for Championships, we will
have a better idea of the numbers in each age group.
This could change the check in/warm up times by about a half hour (or things could stay as is). We will
send out a new email and put it on the website if anything does change!

Please bring in all Lapathon money tonight!! We will close Lapathon by Wednesday.

Our  Lapathon will be this Thursday June 26th.

Your swimmer will swim as many laps as he/she can do in one hour! This Lapathon is at the regular
swim times 6-7 and 7-8, however you need to arrive fifteen minutes early to be ready to get in the pool
on time. We will provide fun snacks for all the swimmers after this event! This is our only fund raiser
that we do at Falcon Swim club. Print out the pledge sheet (link to the right). Have your swimmers start
getting pledges now! The swimmer who brings in the most amount of money will win the basket full of
FSC merchandise, and a free Stroke and Turn Clinic!

Every penny the swimmers raise will go to buying things for the team like Trophies, Pizza Party, new
equipment and much more!!! Also, each male and female from every age group with the most laps in
one hour will get a trophy. Second place finishers will receive medals. We will recognize each of these
winners at our end of the season banquet. If your family will just be participating without getting
pledges, we ask a fee of $25. If you have any questions, feel free to email Wendy or ask the coaches.

The kids really look forward to this each year, and this year with the new pool we should get many
more laps!

We will need some parents to please stay and help count the laps.

Great Turn Out for the Falcon Swim Club !!  Our swimmers looked great in the first meet of the
summer season!!  Congratulations!

How many laps can you swim in an hour?

On Thursday, June 26, 2014 the Falcon Swim Club will conduct its annual Lapathon.   This event is
our only fundraiser for the FSC and it’s a great way for the swimmers to raise money by doing
something they love.   The kids are always amazed at how many laps they can swim in one hour.
Snacks and drinks will be provided.

Our last fundraiser was in June 2013 and we were able to raise over $2,000 and we are hoping to
reach that goal again.  The Falcon Swim Club would like to raise money for to help offset some
expenses (Ex. team party/gifts, and replenish money given away in scholarships.)

Event Details:
Each swimmer should get a Pledge Sheet from the bulletin board, email or download one from our
website (

Swimmers should ask family/friends/relatives to sponsor them for each lap they swim during a timed
one hour swim or pledge a flat pledge (based on past performance our swimmers swim a lot farther
than most people realize!).  Family pledge sheets to participate are a minimum amount of $25.

Swimmers must check in 15 minutes early for lane assignments.

Parent volunteers will keep track of the laps and let the swimmer know how many laps they swam at
the end of his or her hour swim.  Volunteers are needed for both sessions.  Parents should be
available that night to count your swimmer’s laps if necessary.

Swimmers should collect their pledges and bring them by July 9th or when collections are completed.

Swimmers who swim the most laps for each age group will receive a trophy and acknowledgement at
the team party.

Please contact Wendy Konstantakos if you have any questions at email:

There will be no swim practice during thunder/lightning storms or if Wilbraham schools are closed due
to a snowstorm. Once we close, it will be for both swim hours.  We will do our best to notify you by
email & website if a storm approaches late in the day.  Please use your best judgment if you haven't

Parent sign-up sheets are located in the meet book, right in front of the swimmer sign-up book.  We
expect every family to have a representative work part of each meet. We cannot run a successful
meet without your help.  Please see any board member, and they can answer questions you may
have about the volunteer jobs. Most jobs require no training, and working helps pass the time. You
should not miss any races your swimmers are in, even when you are volunteering.  We would love to
train some new stroke and turn judges, please let us know if you are interested. Thank you in
advance for your help.

coaches for attendance and swim lane warm-up assignments. Be on time for your warm-up.

events prior to their event.  It is your responsibility to make sure this happens and not the volunteers.
Watch the event number sign carefully because we may combine events.
Event Etiquette Reminder - New swimmers need to be reminded that in individual events and for the
last leg of a team relay the swimmer must remain in the pool until everyone has completed that event
heat. The announcer will tell the swimmers to clear the pool at completion.
Goggles - Make sure you bring a spare set of goggles to the swim meets in case they break.

For your child's safety... Please pick up your child on time and have them wait in the pool area or
hallway until you arrive. Children should not wait by themselves outside.

The security personnel for Minnechaug has notified us that we can not prop the pool entrance door
open for security reasons.  We can temporarily open the door when we know they belong to our swim
club but we can not leave the door ajar.  If the door is closed and you need to get in please go to the
outside entrance closest to the pool and enter through those doors.  Females only can go into the
girls locker rooms and then cut to the pool area.  Boys or mixed groups should pass the gym and then
take a left down the long hallway which will lead you to an entrance that will bring you to the shallow
end of the pool.

Parents: We encourage you to go over the lap swimming rules of etiquette with your children,
especially the new swimmers.   Thank you.
