Volunteers- We just found out that FSC will need timers for 5 lanes each session. Please note that Jane O’Keefe will come find you to help. We can’t do this meet without parents helping out. If you don’t want to time long but you still want to help, find another parent to spilt your time with then go tell Jane. Remember that you set the example for your swimmers. THANK YOU!

Please label everything, from iPads to clothes, and remember each swimmer is responsible for his or her own belongings. Clean up after yourselves.
Snacks will be sold, however you may want to bring a small cooler or lunch bag with your favorite healthy foods and drinks. There hopefully will be a marked area that you will be able to seat and have your snacks and drinks. You may want to keep a lawn chair or blanket in your car in case there is an area outside that you can take a break.
Don’t forget easy footwear as swimmers will be walking from the bullpen to the pool. A spare towel is helpful.
To help pass the time, swimmers might want to bring something to do - books, a deck of cards, paper & pencils, etc. Again, label everything!
Most importantly, swimmers and spectators alike should bring plenty of patience, good sportsmanship, and a positive attitude!!

Meet: 6/30 We have extended the deadline for the meet this week. It was hard to get everyone signed up because of the Monson meet being changed. So, please get your swimmer signed up by Monday June 30th for our next meet, which is at home against Springfield. Also, while you are at the book the next meet at Belchertown is ready for sign ups as well.
Donations needed We are looking for food donations for the food table at Tuesday’s meet. Gatorade, Rice Crispy Treats, Airheads, Swedish Fish, Sour Patch, Hershey Bars (plain), Peanut M&M, and assorted Candy Bars. Champs signup The Championships book is on the table poolside. Please sign your swimmers up. We need to know either way if they are swimming or not. The deadline to sign up for Championships is July 14th.

TIME CHANGE - ADVANCED SWIM On Tuesday, June 23 Tim’s Advanced Swim program will be canceled.
The program will resume on Wednesday @ 7am. Please note: This program will now be a morning advanced training program.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR THE FIRST MEET A few quick reminders to get the season started. Our first meet is coming up very soon. Please sign your swimmer up for this meet in the meet book on the desk poolside.
The first meet is Tuesday, June 16th (home) Warm ups 5:30 Meet 6:00. This meet is against Tri-Y. Our food table is looking for donations to start the season. Everything we make goes right back to your swimmers so please help us by donating. We use this money to buy trophies, pay for the pizza party and much more. We are looking for cases of water, coke, and diet coke. Chips, M&M’s, Candy Bars, Air Heads, Sour Patch Kids, Sweetish Fish. Please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org if you can bring one of these items.
Also, WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!! Please sign up to help at our first home meet of the season. The sign up for this is also located in the meet book on the desk. There are many jobs everyone can do and if everyone helps out….Nobody should have to help for more than half of the meet! See Jane O’ Keefe for more information.

ADVANCED PRE-SEASON PROGRAMS
The following two programs will be available to High School or possibly Jr. High Athletes. Any non- high school swimmer must be approved by Coach Tim in order to participate.
Strength & Conditioning Program
This program will begin on Monday, April 27th (following April Vacation). It will run on Mondays and Thursdays from 3:45 p.m. - 4:45 p.m. The program will last approximately 12 weeks and will finish up in mid-late July. **Note, this program, as well as the next described swim program shifts to morning hours (7:00 a.m.) after school ends.
Coach Tim feels it is important to keep up with the dry land exercises and plans to run the strength & conditioning program. It will be a "rotating station" based program held in the pool area on the deck. (Depending on the numbers, jr. coaches may assist)
The cost of this program will be $100.
Advanced Swim Training Program
This program really goes hand-in-hand with the Strength & Conditioning Program. For your convenience, we have separated the two programs, but they are designed to work together to improve the overall conditioning of the athlete.
The program will begin on April 27th (Monday following April Vacation) and end with the WMSSL Championship meet which is typically the last Saturday in July (is not finalized yet).
**Note, this program, as well as the Strength & Conditioning Program shifts to morning hours (7:00 - 9: 00 a.m.) after school ends.
The cost of this program will be $300.
UPCOMING FALCON SWIM CLUB REGISTRATION The Hampden – Wilbraham Falcon Swim Club will be holding registration for a four week Stroke and Turn Clinic and for the competitive team season which follows the clinic. Both programs will be held at Minnechaug Regional High School’s pool. These are not learn-to-swim programs.
The Fall Stroke and Turn Clinic is open to all Hampden & Wilbraham children who like to swim and want to learn about or improve in competitive swimming. The clinic will be offered April 6th - May 7th (no practice during school vacation April 20 – 23). New swimmers are required to come on Monday, April 6th (6:00-7:00 for younger swimmers and 7:00 for 11 and older swimmers for a short swim evaluation before being accepted in the program. Returning swimmers will start clinic on Monday April 6th. Registration for the clinic will be at the Minnechaug pool during the first week of the program only. The fee is $75 per swimmer.
The competitive team practices will officially begin May 11th, 2015. General Registration for the team will be held at the pool during the first week of swim team practice on May 11th - 14th, 2015. The FSC team fee is $125 per swimmer. A $10 late fee will be applied after May 14th, 2015. There are discounts for those who participate in the fall clinic, a discount for high school students and also a discount available for families with 3 or more swimmers.
Swimmers ages 6 - 10 swim from 6-7 PM and ages 11 – 18 swim from 7-8 PM on Monday through Thursday for both clinic and team. Some swimmers’ practice times may be moved at the coaches’ discretion.
A parent signature is required on each child’s registration form before the swimmer can enter the pool. Fees are payable at registration to Falcon Swim Club. SWIM MEET PARENT RESPONSIBILITIES Parent sign-up sheets are located in the meet book, right in front of the swimmer sign-up book. We expect every family to have a representative work part of each meet. We cannot run a successful meet without your help. Please see any board member, and they can answer questions you may have about the volunteer jobs. Most jobs require no training, and working helps pass the time. You should not miss any races your swimmers are in, even when you are volunteering. We would love to train some new stroke and turn judges, please let us know if you are interested. Thank you in advance for your help.
SWIM MEET REMINDERS Birth Certificate - NEW SWIMMERS MUST PROVIDE A COPY OF THEIR BIRTH CERTIFICATE for our file, or they will participate UNOFFICIALLY in meets. Check in - When your swimmer arrives at a meet please check in with the coaches or assistant coaches for attendance and swim lane warm-up assignments. Be on time for your warm-up. Bullpen - Parents please be aware that the swimmers need to come to the meet bullpen around 10 events prior to their event. It is your responsibility to make sure this happens and not the volunteers. Watch the event number sign carefully because we may combine events. Event Etiquette Reminder - New swimmers need to be reminded that in individual events and for the last leg of a team relay the swimmer must remain in the pool until everyone has completed that event heat. The announcer will tell the swimmers to clear the pool at completion. Goggles - Make sure you bring a spare set of goggles to the swim meets in case they break.
SAFETY REMINDER TO PARENTS For your child's safety... Please pick up your child on time and have them wait in the pool area or hallway until you arrive. Children should not wait by themselves outside.
INCLEMENT WEATHER NOTIFICATIONS There will be no swim practice during thunder/lightning storms or if Wilbraham schools are closed due to a snowstorm. Once we close, it will be for both swim hours. We will do our best to notify you by email & website if a storm approaches late in the day. Please use your best judgment if you haven't heard.
POOL ENTRY The security personnel for Minnechaug has notified us that we can not prop the pool entrance door open for security reasons. We can temporarily open the door when we know they belong to our swim club but we can not leave the door ajar. If the door is closed and you need to get in please go to the outside entrance closest to the pool and enter through those doors. Females only can go into the girls locker rooms and then cut to the pool area. Boys or mixed groups should pass the gym and then take a left down the long hallway which will lead you to an entrance that will bring you to the shallow end of the pool.
